During my minor in urban interaction design, I led a team FRAME's in working on a solution to enhance participatory city-making through small-scale experiments and interventions. The project resulted in a toolkit for local governance allowing different stakeholders to connect, communicate and collaborate through an Arduino-based board game. I was responsible for visual design and user testing.

Helped municipalities implement participatory city-making
As a design student during my minor in Urban Interaction Design, I led a small team to help municipalities with implementing participatory city-making. I worked on a solution that can enhance participatory city-making of the ‘Hoogstraat in Schiedam’ through small-scale experiments and interventions. The project resulted in SUMMIT, a toolkit for local governance allowing different stakeholders within a community to connect, communicate and collaborate.
My weekly dose of human-centered design:
- Applied user research through deep interviews with the target group or online surveys (see screens).
- Communicated and presented findings to a variety of stakeholders.
- Direct the process within the team during multiple design sprints.
- Iterated through different digital and physical product prototypes.
- Responsible for securing the visual identity and storytelling of our project team and product.
Presented for governance
During the project, I was invited to present FRAME’sdam for the Municipality of Rotterdam and Interreg (a programme within the European Union helping regional and local governments across Europe to develop and deliver better policy). As a result, we shared our research and received an offer to come work for the Municipality of Stavanger, Norway (it was a bit too cold and far for some team members).
